Vanilla Cherry Ice Cream
Enjoy the smooth, creamy goodness of vanilla ice cream with a tasty burst of cherry flavor.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 vanilla bean, split and scraped
- 1 cup cherries, pitted and chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, milk, and sugar over medium heat
Stir until sugar dissolves
Add the vanilla bean including scraped seeds to the mixture
Bring to a simmer, then remove from heat and let it steep for 30 minutes
Remove the vanilla bean from the mixture
Stir in vanilla extract
Chill the mixture in the refrigerator until thoroughly chilled, preferably overnight
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions
During the last few minutes of churning, add the chopped cherries to the ice cream maker
Transfer the churned ice cream into a freezer-safe container, cover, and freeze until firm, about 4-6 hours or overnight
Serve and enjoy!
